As a novice gardener Matilda’s brief to the garden designer Butter Wakefield was that the space had to be low maintenance but with some hardy flowers for cutting and bringing indoors, plenty of space for long summer lunches with friends and, crucially, a dash of the same character and whimsy that Matilda has applied to the interiors of her home.
‘The Evolution of a Home with Matilda Goad’ is a brand new renovation video series from House & Garden packed with ideas to copy. In 2018 House & Garden began following the renovation of the British designer and creative consultant Matilda Goad’s new home. Our aim was to create a series charting the journey of a house over a period of years, to reassure people decorating their own homes that it doesn’t happen overnight. That creating a layered, interesting interior is something that happens in stages, and that those stages aren’t always linear or smooth.
